Summit Spotlight: Katherine Key, Director of Logistics

GUWIL’s first-annual Own It Summit is nearly a month away, and our team is working night and day in preparation for the big event. In the weeks leading up to the summit, we will be featuring the young women who are making #OWNIT2014 a reality.

Q: What is your role, in a nutshell? A: I am the Leader of Logistics. This means that on the day of the summit I will be running around making sure lunch arrives on time and that our speakers are properly hydrated. Q: Who is your role model/ #GirlCrush and/or what speaker are you most looking forward to? A: I try to model myself after Amy Poehler in all that I do. As for speakers at the Summit, I am very excited about Yvonne Cagle because I spent most of my childhood wanted to be an astronaut. Q: Favorite moment working on the summit team: A: Meeting the team for the first time was pretty exciting. There was definitely a moment of “these people are way to too cool to be hanging out with me.” Q: What is one example of how you Own It on the daily?  A: I flip what a Culture and Politics Major should be by building Georgetown’s websites. Q: In three words, what do you hope attendees will walk away with from the summit? A: Inspiration, empowerment, drive Q: What’s your dream career?  A: Urban Planner Q: On a Saturday you can be found: A: DJ-ing my radio show before heading to the Tombs Q: What will get you through the day of the summit?   A: Color coded spreadsheets and a love for my team  In one sentence, give an elevator pitch for: 1) Why an undergraduate woman should attend the summit:          It will be a gathering of some of the most successful and inspirational women that want to help you succeed. 2) Why an undergraduate man should attend the summit:          Everyone can to learn to Own It.
