Summit Spotlight: Elizabeth Buffone, Director of Speakers and Host Committee

GUWIL’s first-annual Own It Summit is nearly a month away, and our team is working night and day in preparation for the big event. In the weeks leading up to the summit, we will be featuring the young women who are making #OWNIT2014 a reality.

Elizabeth Buffone, COL 2014

Q: What is your role, in a nutshell?

A: I am leader of speakers so I help orchestrate everyone who is coming to speak at the summit.

Q: Who is your role model/ #GirlCrush and/or what speaker are you most looking forward to?

A: My #girlcrush is Brit Marling mostly because she has done exactly what I want to do. I admire her especially because she is a Hoya. It is fun to think that someone who has had the same experiences as me has become so successful. I like to think that if she has done it, I can do it too! I am also most looking forward to seeing Judy Hofflund and Louisa Spring because they are both just the most amazing women and I aspire to be like them in my career.

Q: What is one example of how you Own It on the daily?

A: I own my ambition on a daily basis. I’m not afraid to tell people that I have clear goals for my life and I will do anything and everything to achieve them.

Q: In three words, what do you hope attendees will walk away with from the summit?

A: Sense of empowerment

Q: What’s your dream career?

A: My dream career is to be a show runner on a television show. It would be a show that I created and obviously features a strong female protagonist (duh!)

Q: On a Saturday you can be found:

A: On a Saturday I can be found at Tombs (99 Days Club!)

Q: What will get you through the day of the summit?

A: I think I will get through the day of the summit with help from all the adrenaline that I will have from being so awestruck about how many freaking amazing women there are in one room.

In one sentence, give an elevator pitch for:

1) Why an undergraduate woman should attend the summit:

An undergraduate woman should attend the summit to be surrounded by likeminded people and gain some perspective on how to get where they want to be in life.

2) Why an undergraduate man should attend the summit:

An undergraduate man should attend the summit to be surrounded by likeminded people and gain some perspective on how to get where they want to be in life. Equality baby.
